Exciting News on Coaches Certification

As you know, beginning with the 2008 season, Babe Ruth League, Inc. rostered managers and coaches are required to complete coaching education and certification.

We could not be more pleased with the response to the Babe Ruth League Coaching Education and Certification Program and with the comments we’ve received regarding its contents and value to our coaches. With that said, I am delighted to bring you even more good news: When we initially put the program in place, we felt it necessary for coaches to recertify every three years, but after consulting with Babe Ruth League administrators and coaches in the field, and taking the coaching education course ourselves, we at Babe Ruth League National Headquarters have decided that the course that we have developed in conjunction with Ripken Baseball, Inc. and the American Sport Education Program provides coaches with a wonderful foundation. Thus, any coach who successfully passes the Babe Ruth League Coaching Education and Certification Program will receive a certification that is valid for their entire coaching career with Babe Ruth League, Inc. This also applies to any coach who has already taken and successfully passed the Babe Ruth Coaching Education and Certification Program.

We still feel continuing education is important for our coaches and we’ll continually be looking into ways that we can provide additional educational opportunities for our coaches. For now, however, please ignore references to the three-year certification in marketing materials currently in circulation. We’ll change the language on the various Websites as soon as possible.

We are proud to stand behind the “Babe Ruth League Coaching Education and Certification Program”, which teaches coaches to keep the game fun and simple for the kids, making sure their experience is enjoyable. It is evident that our coaches agree with us due to the overwhelming response and interest in the certification program.

We reviewed many coaches’ training courses and the choice was simple. The American Sport Education Program’s 25 years of sports education experience, coupled with the principles of “The Ripken Way” was the best and only avenue to take to arm our coaches with the resources they need to make the game better for even more youth baseball and softball players.

Encourage your coaches to gain their lifetime certification today by visiting http://www.baberuthcoaching.org.
